During the winters in Reno, NV the coldest of the winter storms come in from the north. Throughout this piece I seek to capture the feeling of the cold wind pulling the storm in from the north. North Wind begins with a brief slower section that leads into the main driving theme of the work. After the tempo change the clarinets play the main melody and the piece begins to build to include the full band. The work then brings back the theme from the slower section before returning to the main melody. The work continues to grow in intensity as it continues to move forward towards the end. At the end, the piece goes major and ends with a full band major chord, signifying the end of the storm.
