Based on the patriotic standards “America” and “America the Beautiful”, this creative scoring presents a variety of contrasting musical styles that reflect the diversity of our great nation.  After a traditional version of “America” is presented, the tune is augmented in 4/4 and set in a minor mode against a flowing contrapuntal upper woodwind line to reflect the darker times in our country’s history. The mood is quickly changed to an optimistic one with a spirited shift in style to a 6/8 march.  The piece concludes with a triumphant setting of “America the Beautiful” as a proud reminder that America has always risen from the adversity it has faced in over two centuries.
