Chess - The Art of Strategy
"Chess was a huge success for us this year! This music helped lead our group to its highest score in many years. The show was very accessible to the members of the ensemble and provided many 'teaching moments.' Students and parents loved the music as it offered many opportunities for musical and visual impacts. Due to our success with Chess and wonderful cooperation of the GPG Music staff, we will again be performing a GPG show this coming season!"

Benjy Jones, Director of Bands

Rise of the Samurai Warrior

"Using GPG has drastically improved the level and quality of our competitive band. In 2008, using GPG's "Rise of the Samurai Warrior" music, we won the East Coast Cavalcade of Bands Championships. I recommend GPG music to all band directors because the music is both educational and fun. My students love playing this music and judges have consistently commented on the depth and layers found in the GPG compositions. Another band director, who isn't affiliated with our band, told me that our GPG show music from this past fall is still playing in hishead - 3 months later! I am excited to use GPG music again this fall for the third consecutive season!

Second City Nights

"Second City Nights set the musical mood for a visual package that produced a show that was our most successful to date. The scoring and weight of this book pushed us over the top! We highly recommend GPG to everyone...well maybe not our toughest competitors."

Rise of the Samurai Warrior

"As a high school band director just hired at the end of June, I needed quality marching band music and I needed it quickly! The staff members at GPG were incredibly helpful, shipping me music so I had it within a day or two. The music is so well written, that when the students first heard it, they were instantly excited and motivated about the upcoming competitive season. This music really appealed to everyone – the students, parents, judges and general public. The band experienced it’s most successful season to date, with an undefeated season and a first place victory at Championships winning high music, high general effect and high percussion. Thank you GPG!"

Attack of The Evil Clowns

“Gary Gilroy writes music that fits the level of my band perfectly. His melodies and driving rhythms coupled with exciting percussion parts keeps my students excited and our audiences on the edge of their seats. I highly recommend Dr. Gilroy's field shows for any band that wants to sound great and be competitive.”

“We used the music of Pirates! for our field show. I couldn't have been happier with the arrangement. The students, parents, crowd, and judges absolutely loved the arrangement. It provided us with the ability to ‘strut our stuff.’ Our 120 piece Marching band placed at least in the top five at every contest we went to and won many captions. I know that everyone that I talked to at GPG Publications were very helpful and accommodating to our individual needs. I don't think that I could have found a better place to get our show music or better people to work with.”

Kevin C. Williams, Director of Bands
Haughton High School – Haughton, Louisiana

Urban Pulse

"We performed the show Urban Pulse. Gary Gilroy's music was a big hit with both audiences and judges. Our 140- piece band had a very successful season placing first at four competitions around New York state, and in spite of a huge storm that closed our schools for six days in October, finished fourth in our class at the NYSFBC Championships. Gary's show provided for an excellent blend of musical and visual elements. His arrangement created an appropriate balance between accessibility and challenge for our musicians."

Richard Goss, Director of Bands
Lancaster High School - Lancaster, New York

Gangsta Jazz!

This was an incredible show that challenged my students and the crowd loved. My wife is our drill writer. She commented that GPG arrangements are the easiest to design drill for. We have ordered The Machines. It was an easy choice for us. Most of the students already have it downloaded on their iPods!”

Custom Show

"GPG was an excellent company to use for my small band. They created a show that showcased our strengths and helped our weaknesses. The staff was easy to work with and helpful throughout marching season."

Urban Pulse

“I really liked the show that we bought from Gary P. Gilroy Publications. We have a small band and the show worked really well for our size group. The part writing allowed us to be very successful and competitive. We had our most successful season since I have been here. The turn around between payment and receipt of the show was fast as was the answer to the one question I had about the music. The kids and I really enjoyed the music. It was extremely nice to be able to finally go to a competition and not have someone else playing our music. We liked it so much that before the 2006 music was posted on the Internet I had already asked GPG when it was coming out.”

Barron Jones, Director of Bands
Madison Southern HS - Berea, Kentucky

“I’d recommend GPG Publications to anyone looking for an effective, custom field production that can be accomplished without excessive hours on the practice field.”

Dr. Frank Tracz, Director of Bands
Kansas State Bands – Manhattan, Kansas

“The music was interesting, very entertaining, and most importantly within my group’s ability. I will definitely use GPG again.”

Earline McGrannahan, Director of Bands

Large Band Champions - Nevada State Championships

"With only 50 students and with limited instrumentation, we were able to create a 'large' band sound while competing as a small band. Our music scores went through the roof, often matching the scores of bands with 100+ students. This show has helped us define the success that we look forward to in the future * and it's all about the music. I can't praise GPG enough! It sounds silly, but the 'INSOMNIA' show finally allowed me to get some sleep at night during marching band season!"

Chess - The Art of Strategy

“I wanted to thank you for an amazing piece of music! Chess was so much fun for the kids, very accessible, and very impactful."

Chris Moura, Director of Bands
Oak Grove High School – San Jose, CA

“Our first experience with GPG music was outstanding. Our scores went up significantly and we received numerous comments from judges on the quality of the musical book. The students loved it, our fans loved it and I will miss hearing it every day!”

Larry Petersen, Director of Bands
Huron High School - Huron, SD

Fire & Ice

"This music fit our band very well and we were able to execute very effectively this year. We performed this show with a total of 41 students. The scoring allowed us to sound much bigger than we actually were. We are very happy with the product you provided as well as your customer service."

C. David Epperson, Director of Bands
Butler Traditional High School - Louisville, Kentucky

Pyramids of Egypt

“We are a class D school with an enrollment of less than 500 in grades 7-12. I have been building our band program for the past 13 years and marching band has been especially difficult. Last year several of my students listened to your demo CD in February and fell in love with the music. Instead of ordering the best stock arrangements we could get, they really wanted to play ‘Pyramids of Egypt.’ I agreed that this could be a great show to build the playing concepts we had been working on so hard. Your company has been wonderful. Our band returned to MSBOA festival this season for the first time in 9 years. It is quite an accomplishment for us. The students are fired up for concert season like I have never seen them before. And we all know that the credit goes to Gary P. Gilroy Publications for our ‘Pyramids’ score. You have 40 grateful kids and one happy director that owe everything to you this fall!”

Denise Lewis, Director of Bands and Choir
White Pigeon Community Schools, White Pigeon, Michigan

Rise of the Samurai Warrior

"The Music lends itself to a wealth of possibilities in what a band can do at football games and at competitions. There never is a dull moment! Artistically, the flow of the music keeps the audience anticipating for more and more until the very end. Thanks for writng such an entertaining and interesting show!"

Pete Krostag, Director of Bands
Pine Forest High School - Pensacola, Florida

Mediterranean Rhythms

"We march 160 in our upperclassmen band (We march two bands.) This year, we purchased "Mediterranean Rhythms." I KNEW it would be a challenge and perhaps on the "too difficult" end of the spectrum. The first read was a disaster, the second run was promising and by the third music rehearsal I knew we had a winner. The musicians have been challenged, but they have met all the challenges with increased eagerness to achieve. I am proud of the students and very happy to have had a fun, challenging musical program for them...From the first time the kids in the band heard this show, they were pumped. We received our music in a timely manner. My percussion staff was very impressed with the drum book. The staff knew by the end of camp that we had a winning show if we could clean everything."

Marion Roberts, Director of Bands
Blue Valley North High School - Overland Park, Kansas

"Our competitive group performed “The Machines” this season. I originally heard the show over in South Carolina last year while judging and thought it was very well constructed. Normally I use one of my colleagues to write my music and have never given much thought to buying a custom show from a company. However, I will say that I am very impressed with the professionalism and individual attention I was afforded from GPG. My main concern was going to a contest and hearing my show performed. With your exclusivity contract I had no worries...It might also be mentioned that our percussion section won high drums at all three competitions. I might also mention that in my 28 year career I have never had judges come out of the press box and find me after a show to tell me how much they enjoyed our performance."
